Alabama gives Trump tremendous lead in the Republican primary
President Donald Trump is favored to win the 2024 Republican presidential primary by a wide majority of conservatives in the Yellowhammer State.
According to the latest Morning Consult poll that surveyed Alabamans, 87 percent of the state’s GOP voters support Trump over Nikki Haley and “someone else.” This gives the 45th president a 75-point lead over Haley, who received just 12 percent.
Not only has President Trump’s popularity increased throughout his campaign, but the only other Republican primary candidate running against him, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, lost Wednesday’s Nevada primary to “someone else” when Trump’s name did not appear on the ballot, per RSBN.
Despite the obvious will of the people, President Trump’s candidacy is being challenged.
On Thursday, the Colorado Supreme Court heard arguments regarding whether or not removing his name from the ballot is legal, via RSBN.
RSBN reported that the Colorado Supreme Court ruled to remove President Trump’s name from the ballot in December on the grounds that he engaged in “insurrection.” However, President Trump has never been convicted of this act.
The ruling was met with a strong backlash from conservatives who support President Trump’s right to appeal the decision and claim that removing his name from the ballot is “election interference.”
Conservatives in Alabama are standing with him through this battle. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., publicly decried the attempt to prevent President Trump from running for reelection.
In a clip shared by the Trump War Room on X, Tuberville stated, “Democrats in the state capitals across the country are trying to kick President Trump off the ballot.”
He explained how the legal theory being used against Trump is unprecedented and twists the Constitution’s meaning for their benefit.
“Democrats like to talk about democracy, but Democrats are desperately trying to stop the American people from deciding who will be our next president,” he went on.
Tuberville then stated, “They couldn’t care less about our Constitution. They couldn’t care less about the will of the people. They couldn’t care less about our courts.”
“Stop today, this attack on our democracy. Let the American people decide, in November, who their leaders will be,” he concluded.
