New poll suggests Americans think Trump, Biden have done more harm than good

Americans essentially think President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have done more harm than good to the country, according to a poll released Friday.

Fifty-eight percent said Biden’s presidency hurt the country on issues related to cost of living, and 56% had a similar view on the issue of immigration, according to the new AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll.

In addition, about half of the respondents said Biden’s presidency has done more to harm regarding relations with other countries.

Nearly half say the four years of the Trump administration hurt the country’s voting rights and election security, relations with other countries, abortion laws, and climate change, according to the poll.

The public is more likely to say Trump helped rather than hurt the country when it comes to job creation and immigration and border security issues. The public is evenly split in assessing his impact on the cost of living – 47% and 46%, respectively.

The  poll was conducted April 4-8 among 1,204 adults with a sampling error of 3.9%.
