45th President of the United States Donald Trump briefly met with Argentinian President Javier Milei backstage on Saturday at CPAC in Washington, D.C., where both men delivered a message centered on making their countries “great” again.

During his speech, Trump referred to Milei as “MAGA” or “Make Argentina GREAT again!”

“It’s true,” the president continued. “He’s one of the few [who] can really do it well…thank you very much, Javier.”

Backstage, Trump Senior Advisor Dan Scavino captured the moment when both President Milei and President Trump met each other and warmly embraced.

“Nice to meet you!” Milei can be heard saying as music blared loudly in the background.

“You’re doing a great job,” Trump also remarked. He later commented, “I won’t forget you, I promise that.”

During his later remarks, President Milei encouraged CPAC attendees, “Don’t surrender your liberty, fight for your freedom. If you don’t fight for your freedom, they will drag you into misery.”

He concluded colorfully, “Long live freedom, damn it!”

President Milei assumed office in December 2023, making waves as a fiercely outspoken political figure whom many might describe as a populist. He has also been compared to President Donald Trump because of his extremely direct approach to governance.
