Trump Endorses $60 Bible After Comparing Himself to Jesus

Republican former President Donald Trump just endorsed a country music inspired-print of the Christian bible one day after he compared himself to Jesus online as he attended a pretrial hearing on Monday.
Trump made the announcement on Tuesday around noon on his social media company, now listed on the Nasdaq, Truth Social.
“You have to have it for your heart, for your soul,” the former president said in a pre-recorded video for the Lee Greenwood-endorsed project.
According to the website for the print, it contains a “handwritten chorus to ‘God Bless The USA’ by Lee Greenwood,” a copy of the US Constitution, Pledge of Allegiance, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights.
In his video, Trump told his followers, “We do not answer to bureaucrats in Washington. We answer to God in heaven. Christians are under siege.”
Hours after the video’s release, it’s already being uploaded to the site, where it’s now listed as “the only Bible endorsed by President Trump!”
According to the website, its owners are using “Donald J. Trump’s name, likeness and image under paid license from CIC Ventures LLC.” The New York Times, citing a person “familiar with the details of the business arrangement,” reported that the former president would receive some form of royalties from the project.
The site also includes photos of prominent conservative figures holding it, like Baptist minister and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Rep. Matt Gaetz, and Donald Trump Jr.
In true-Trump fashion, the bible also comes with a “gold ribbon marker” as well.
Trump’s endorsement comes just one day after he seemingly compared himself to Jesus on Truth Social at 10:30 a.m. ET while he was still at a pretrial hearing for his hush money case in New York tied to porn star Stormy Daniels.
In his post, Trump claimed someone sent him a text that morning saying, “It’s ironic that Christ walked through His greatest persecution the very week they are trying to steal your property from you,” along with a verse from the Christian bible.
That wasn’t the first time Trump has made such allusions.
During his presidency, in 2019, he looked at the sky and declared he was “the chosen one” as he continued a trade war with China. A year later, he also said he was the second-most popular person in the world behind Jesus.
Though Trump said in 2015 on the campaign trail that the bible was his favorite book, The Atlantic reported in 2020 that Trump mocked his Christian supporters while still in the White House.
“They’re all hustlers,” Trump reportedly said about Christian pastors.
